Plant Lover DIY Holiday Gift Made With Cricut Joy (Detailed Tutorial)

I love to add a bit of DIY flair and personalization to store-bought gifts, and this plant lover souvenir idea fits the ticket! This tin can be a budget-friendly gift idea by using tiny succulent planters or fill a larger planter with a beautiful house plant for your mom. These would too be fun to gift with a couple of plant cuttings.

I used my Cricut Joy to add together puns to the planters and to personalize piddling gift tags with the recipient's proper noun. This project uses basic Cricut materials and but takes a few minutes to make! The small size of the Cricut Joy is perfect for this type of project, and yous can also make this if you ain i of the larger Cricut machines.

Cricut Joy Vinyl Found Pot Puns

Supplies

• Cricut Joy
• Starter Tool Set
• White Smart Vinyl
• Transfer Tape
• Ceramic Institute Pots

Step 1 – Create your pattern in Cricut DesignSpace

Write your plant puns in your favorite font and arrange it as desired. I used the "American Typewriter" font for mine.

Then size your design to fit your constitute pot and click "make it".

Step 2 – Load Vinyl Into Your Cricut Joy

Follow the on-screen prompts to load white Smart Vinyl into your Cricut Joy. Smart materials, designed specifically for the Joy, are and then simple to use because they don't crave a cutting mat! Just feed the roll of Smart Vinyl directly into your machine and you're ready to cut.

Pace iii – Cut Your Design

At present allow your Cricut Joy do all the work! Later it finishes cutting out the pattern, unload the vinyl from your machine and cut around the outside of your design with pair of scissors.

Step 4 – Weed Your Blueprint

Use your weeding tool to weed the excess vinyl away, leaving the private messages on the articulate backing.

Use transfer tape on top of the design and smooth it down using the scraper tool. Then slowly lift upwardly the transfer tape (the letters should lift up with it).

Carefully place your pattern on the found pot and stick it in identify. Smoothen it out well with your fingers and/or the scraper tool. And then carefully lift upward a corner of the transfer tape and slowly pare information technology away from the pot.

Leather Gift Tags Personalized With Cricut Joy

Supplies

• Cricut Joy
• Starter Tool Ready
• EasyPress Mini
• EasyPress Mat
• Gold Smart Iron-On (or a flake of regular iron-on plus a Cricut Joy Cutting Mat like I used)
• Transfer Tape
• Cricut Leather
• Sparse String

Step 1 – Cut Your Leather Gift Tags

The Cricut Joy doesn't cutting leather but that's okay because these leather souvenir tags are but a rectangle! I love the Cricut brand leather for projects, just utilize sharp scissors to cutting it to the size you desire for your tag.

Step 2 – Create your design in Cricut DesignSpace

Design your lettering for the gift tags in Cricut DesignSpace. I used the American Typewriter font for mine only you can use whatever you'd like! I also added a tiny centre shape to the end of the names for a little extra love ;).

This is important: Make sure you mirror your blueprint for iron-on projects!!

When yous're happy with the pattern, click "Make It".

Step iii – Load Vinyl Into Your Cricut Joy

Load your Smart Iron-On into the machine following the on-screen prompts (or load your regular iron-on on a cutting mat, shiny side down).

Step iii – Cut Your Design

After your design is finished cutting, unload the vinyl and trim the backlog vinyl away.

Step 4 – Weed Your Design

Use your weeding tool to weed the excess vinyl abroad, leaving the individual letters on the articulate bankroll.

Step 5 – Use Your Design To The Leather Gift Tag

Oestrus your EasyPress Mini to the medium heat setting. Lightly press the hot EasyPress Mini on the leather for 5 seconds to preheat it.

Then position your fe-on on the leather gift tag (shiny liner on top). Utilise medium rut to the iron-on material for 30 seconds, using light pressure and gentle movement the unabridged time.

Step half-dozen – Tie On The Souvenir Tag

I used the tip of my weeding tool to puncture a small hole in the end of the leather tags. Then thread string through the hole, using a needle if needed. Tie around your planters for the cutest gift!
